Self-Contained pH Control and Monitoring Systems
Fortrans Inc. announces a new self-contained pH control and monitoring system designed specifically for the neutralization of high pH process water produced at ready mixed concrete plants.

The Model 5000S pH Control and Monitoring System offers precise monitoring and pH control of process water in settling basins, lagoons and other outfall containment devices.

This system has been certified by an independent engineering firm to perform as specified. The units are shipped fully assembled and only require an electrical connection and a supply of carbon dioxide gas. The system will treat approximately 100,000 gallons per day. The system is also available as a skid mount unit. (Model 5000SK) These systems are highly reliable and affordable to purchase and operate.

The Model 5000S pH Control and Monitoring System enables operators of ready mixed concrete plants to effectively control the pH and Total Suspended Solids of both process water and/or stormwater run-off. After the pH is lowered to 7.5 the typical total suspended solids are between 5-18 mg/L without filtration. This enables the facility to meet the pH requirements as well as the 30 mg/L TSS most permits demand before the water can be released. The treated water may be used to batch concrete, to irrigate rock, to rinse the interiors of the drums on the concrete trucks and rinse the exteriors of the trucks as well.

We are currently using 9 of the Model 5000S pH Control Systems supplied by Fortrans at our ready mix concrete plants and are very pleased with them. In fact, they are not only helping us to control the pH in our pit systems but also help us deal with the solids build-up as well. They are reliable and virtually maintenance free and one of the best methods that I have found in dealing with high pH process water which is one of the most critical and increasingly regulated issues in our industry. We currently operate 30 plants and I intend to purchase several more Model 5000S systems.

Our systems offer precise monitoring and control of the pH in pit systems, settling basins, lagoons and other containment areas.

  • The pH Control Systems will treat up to 57 gallons per minute - max 20' head pressure. Unique water circulation design eliminates the need for separate neutralization tank.
  • 1.5" quick connect fittings on inlet and return for easy hook-up. The standard unit is equipped with 2-20' sections of 1.5" flexible hose with quick connect fittings. Inlet and outlet fittings at the basin or lagoon are per our specifications.
  • Unit is shipped completely assembled. The chemical controller is preprogrammed to maintain a  pH of 7.5. Just attach hoses and PVC fittings.
  • 1 year warranty on all component parts and housing

The pH Control Systems are designed to treat and maintain a specified pH level in a body of water usually 100,00 gallons or less to allow the permitted discharge of treated water to the environment. Permits must be obtained from the local governing agency to allow any discharge to the environment. Treated water may be used for wetting of rock and/or dust control to aid compliance with storm water run off regulations and may be used in water recycling systems.

Model 5000-B pH Control System

A self-contained pH control and monitoring system designed specifically for the neutralization of high pH process water produced at ready mixed concrete plants.

 Installed in a compact enclosure 41’ wide, 47” deep and 39” high. It features the same base materials as the 5000S model. It does not include lighting or shelves. It has a tamper resistant haft w/ padlock. This model is easily transportable by small truck or trailer for owners that wish to remediate pH at several locations. All other components are identical to the 5000S Model.

An installation, operation and maintenance manual is included with each system.

All Models can by equipped with Stenner™ pumps and chemical injectors to allow owner to raise pH instead of lowering pH. Click here to view available accessories.

Model 5000-S pH Control System
Model 5000-S pH Control System a self-contained pH control and monitoring system designed specifically for the neutralization of high pH process water produced at ready mixed concrete plants. Our Model 5000-S pH Control System is a self-contained pH monitor and control system housed in a weatherproof facility with lockable doors and adequate space to house the instrumentation and circulation pump. The system is configured for carbon dioxide gas operation. Model 5000-S is equipped with a C02 injection for lowering pH.

Installed in a full enclosure 4’ wide 4’ deep and 8’ high. It comes equipped with lighting, shelving and a steel door with lock. This model is built on a Trex™ skid with Coex plastic flooring for resistance to water damage. The system requires a 6’ X 6’ concrete pad, 115V 30 Amp electrical service and a C02 supply with regulator.

An installation, operation and maintenance manual is included with each system.

Model 5000-SK Skid Mounted pH Control System
Model 5000-SK Skid Mounted pH Control System a self-contained pH control and monitoring system designed specifically for the neutralization of high pH process water produced at ready mixed concrete plants. Skid mounted system for owners who wish to locate the system in existing or different facilities. It contains all of the components and features of the 5000S except it is shipped on a crated wooden or plastic skid and is demounted and installed by the owner.

The Model 5000-SK Skid Mounted pH Control System contains all of the instrumentation and components of the regular Model 5000-S System and is shipped on a 44" x 47" plastic skid with durable solid plastic surface. The Control Panel is provided loose with all components installed and is designed to be attached to an interior wall of the control building. The tubing to the sample cell and from the CO2 solenoid valve to the Sparger stone fed assembly must be inserted after receipt of the unit. The system features a 115V - 30 Amp Breaker Box and two GFCI receptacles. The system is shipped with a CO2 feed system.
